Sorry, I guess they changed the page that the link went to. I printed the directions. I should have cut and paste. Now I have to type it into the computer before I can share it with everyone. Soon as I have time I'll include the directions in this thread. Thanks for all your nice comments!
The original instructions were taken from simplescrapbooksmag.com by Amy Williams. I altered the instructions based on how I made them.
Supplies:
1) Cardstock: (2) 8x8 laminated layouts (I used DS Designer paper) & (3) 3x8 matching laminated pieces for sides and bottom of bag. One of the 3x8 pieces was hold punched with a binding machine (can be done at Staples, I used my sisters) on all sides, the other pieces were punched on all sides except for the tops. (Amy's directions said to leave a 1/4 inch margin on all sides of each item laminated. I did not do this. With the binding machine I used to punch holes and the lamination I used-Ducks Machine-I thought the holes were sturdier when the holes punched through the paper, away from the edge.) I also discovered that Ducks brand is better than the sams club laminating sheets.
2) craft lace (found at craft stores and/or Walmart may have it)
3) ( 1/4" sewing eyelets
4) standard hole punch
5) Eyelet Plier Kit (I used Dritz found at Jo-Anns)
6) 22 inches of clear 1/2 inch vinyl tubing (found at hardware stores) or you can use ready made handles found at Jo-Anns or Walmart and halve the number of eyelets you need.
7) (4) loose-leaf ring clips (the kind that opens is easier to get through the eyelets
Instructions:
Using the standard hole punch, punch two holes in the top of each of your 8x8 layouts. Holes should be 1/2 inches from top and 1 1/2 inches from sides. Set a 1/4 eyelet in each hole and set using eyelet plier kit.
With the vinyl cording or craft lace, knot one end and lace the bags together. I laced front and sides together first, then attached bottom to this, then back. Because my holes are long, I looped the lace twice.
To make handle: Cut tubing into (2) 11" pieces. Punch hole through one side (might be too thick to punch through both sides of tubing at once). I had to punch with the holepunch several times till eyelet fit. Follow directions for the pliers to add the eyelets.
Punch circles for decorations for inside the handles and then add eyelets to the other end after it's filled according to your liking. Repeat for other handle.
Attach handles to bag with key rings.
If you have any questions, let me know. Hopefully I didn't leave anything out!!
